New shipyard planned for Qatar’s Marsa port

Qatar’s Marsa free zone maritime development project will soon become home to a newly-developed Milaha Yachts and Ships Yard, following an agreement between Qatar Navigation (Milaha) and Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ).

Al Seer Marine to expand Damen joint venture

Cochin yard starts dredger construction project

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) recently laid the keel of India’s largest dredger, DCI Dredge Godavari. This Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD), with a hopper capacity of 12,000 m3, is being built for the Dredging Corporation of India in collaboration with Royal IHC, Netherlands, one of the world leaders in terms of dredger design and construction.

Shiplift upgrades completed at DMC

Significant investments to enhance and expand the shiprepair capacity of Dubai Maritime City have been completed. Infrastructure works have included a retrofit of DMC’s ship lifts, the introduction of new ship cradles and power supply improvements. As a result, DMC now has upgraded 6000 tonnes and 3000 tonnes capacity ship lifts, more than doubling its capacity from 400 to 1000 vessels per year and enabling the facility to handle larger and more complex shiprepair projects.

ASRY to build Bapco bunker barges

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has confirmed that it has secured a contract to build two new self propelled fuel oil bunker barges for Bapco Refining. Drydocks World to acquire new heavy lift crane

Dubai’s Drydocks World shipyard has signed a contract with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. (ZPMC) to acquire a new generation 5000 tonnes capacity floating crane, which will help it meet the growing demand for large-scale offshore projects.

Albwardy Damen wins major tug contract

The Damen group has signed a landmark contract with Saudi Arabia’s Western Coast Port Services (WCPS) to deliver six newbuild ASD Tugs.
