Silk Way West Airlines to add 9 large freighters this decade

Silk Way West Airlines on Tuesday received its first factory-built 777 freighter from Boeing at its base in Baku, Azerbaijan, marking the 11-year-old company’s next expansion phase.

Silk Way West’s fleet consists of seven Boeing 747-400 and five modern 747-8 freighters. Azerbaijan cargo airline debuts at Rickenbacker airport

Azerbaijan-based Silkway West Airlines is the latest carrier to begin flying to Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus, Ohio, a cargo-focused airport that recently marked the arrival of its 500th passenger aircraft with only cargo onboard.

The first Silkway B747 freighter touched down at Rickenbacker (LCK) this week under a long-term lease with Trinity Logistics USA, the Columbus Regional Airport Authority said.
