Hapag-Lloyd acquires the SM SAAM terminal business

Based on a deal announced in October 2022, Hapag-Lloyd successfully completed its 100% acquisition of SM SAAM’s terminal operations and related logistics services.

All relevant antitrust authorities in the countries involved in the acquisition process completely approved the transaction.

SAAM Towage inks deal for its first electric tugboats

SAAM Towage, division of SAAM Group, signed an agreement on 13 October with Teck & Neptune Terminals to deploy the first two electric tugs in its fleet.

It is envisaged that these new units will reduce 2,400 tonnes of greenhouse gases (GHG) each year. The ElectRA 2300SX tugs have been designed by Vancouver-based Robert Allan and will be built at Sanmar Shipyards in Turkey.

Hapag-Lloyd buys SM SAAM terminal business for US$1 billion

Hapag-Lloyd will acquire the entire terminal business of the Chile-based company SM SAAM, including SAAM Ports and SAAM Logistics, for approximately US$1 billion.
