Maersk collaborating to ‘alleviate supply chain pain points’

A.P. Møller – Maersk said it is taking container congestion and intermodal equipment scarcity seriously and addressing “the concerns of the U.S. export community and the trucking industry feeling the impact during this already difficult time.”

Maersk North America said in a press release Monday that as a result of “surging U.S. imports and the resulting intermodal equipment flow imbalances, all members of the logistics sector have been challenged to find solutions. Maersk senior officials have...

M&A radar: Mærsk’s finger on the M&A trigger – sink the 8-ball, Mr Skou

AP Møller-Mærsk (APMM) CEO Søren Skou deserves a word of praise.
Time flies
Only twelve months ago, with the stock trading at just over Dkr9,000 ahead of a dramatic Covid-19-led plunge (to as low as Dkr4,900 and change), the fear was that bouncing back from the abyss was mission impossible.
Skou’s first remarks immediately after he took over from Nils Andersen retuned with a vengeance. Just over four years ago, he had noted …

Covid strategy pays dividends for Maersk with strong Q3

The Ocean division has boosted Maersk’s third-quarter results, showing remarkable growth in earnings of 39% on contracting revenues as the company’s strategy of managing capacity pays off spectacularly.

The demand recovery, following the slowdown of the second quarter, which led to the reactivation of all available tonnage as well as significantly higher prices in the short-term market, helped the Copenhagen-based firm to deliver a strong quarter in the Ocean sector, according to the CEO of A.P....

Against the odds: How to make AP Møller Mærsk shinier

“With a strong result and a strong balance sheet we are well positioned to financially and strategically come out stronger of the crisis.” – Søren Skou, CEO of AP Møller Mærsk Group (APMM), 19 August 2020.
It was a tiny little step both in time and financial delivery from Q1 ’20 (smoke and mirrors) to Q2 ’20 for APMM, but what truly deserves a standing ovation in the wake of results is the co-ordinated …

Trade to rebound and digitisation to accelerate, predicts Maersk CEO

A bullish Soren Skou, chief of Maersk, in this interview believes trade will recover quickly to pre-pandemic levels, and grow slowly after that. But he points out that businesses have learned a lot during the crisis. Supply chains will change, he predicts, as customers found they were too predicated on efficiency and low costs, and ignored the problems of single-sourcing and lack of inventory in the system. He also says …
