Colombo Dockyard has handled its longest vessels to date, with the docking of the sister shipsSCI Chennaiand SCI Mumbai for the Shipping Corporation of India. The 262m long ships only just fit into the shipyard’s largest dry dock, which is 263m long, and their docking drew heavily on the planning expertise of the Colombo Dockyard Ship Repair team.

US finance institution to fund Sri Lanka port project

The US Government’s development finance organisation, the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), has announced that it will be funding the deepwater Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT), which is being developed by a consortium made up of India’s largest port operator Adani Ports and SEZ; Sri Lanka based John Keells Holdings (JKH); and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Sri Lanka Shipping Company orders two Damen tugs

Sri Lanka Shipping Company, a subsidiary of Advantis Group, and Damen Shipyards have signed a contract for the delivery of two new ASD Tug 2312 tugboats.
