AMSA extends standards of training certification and STCW certificates

Due to the uncertainty that has been caused by COVID-19, AMSA informed that it is extending the duration of some certificates.

Namely, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has taken steps to effectively extend the duration of AMSA issued:

  • Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) certificates
  • certificates of safety training and
  • certificates of medical fitness

if they would otherwise expire during the period between 26 March and 1 October 2020.

Filipino seafarers undergo EMSA final audit

According to Manila Bulletin, the Filipino seafarers started to go through the European Maritime Safety Agency’s final audit, in which will be determined whether the region’s performance meets the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) requirements.
