Trade group: Exempt cross-border truckers from vaccine mandate

A trucking trade group is urging U.S. President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to exempt cross-border truckers from COVID-19 vaccine rules implemented in mid-January.

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association sent letters to Biden and Trudeau  on Monday.

The move comes after the Freedom Convoy entered its second week in Canada’s capital, Ottawa, to protest the country’s rule that took effect on Jan. 15, requiring U.S. truckers entering Canada to be vaccinated. The...

StopTheTires2020 founder claims social media ‘disruptors’ doomed group’s efforts

StopTheTires group

Jeremy Rewoldt describes himself as a “disgruntled truck driver” who just wanted to create a forum where he and fellow like-minded truckers could vent about this year’s presidential election. He wanted to create a platform to share his concerns about President-elect Joe Biden’s stance on transitioning to cleaner energy sources with other truckers.

He named the public Facebook group StopTheTires2020, shared it with a few trucker friends and went to bed on Nov 6. Rewoldt admits he wasn’t prepared...

Breaking News: Second StopTheTires2020 protest canceled

A second StopTheTires protest scheduled to take place Nov. 26-29 has been canceled, according to the group’s Facebook page.

The group, which had picked Veterans Day for its first protest to boycott delivery of nonessential supplies to major U.S. cities “as a way to show support for President Trump,” said it was waiting on the final results of the 2020 election before staging another protest.

The one-day strike last Wednesday had no impact on the supply chain, according to industry sources.

Supply chain reports no disruption after trucker protest

StopTheTires protesters failed to disrupt supply chain

Despite thousands of posts by members of a truckers’ group calling itself StopTheTires2020 promising to turn off their rigs Wednesday, few did.

The StopTheTires2020 Facebook group picked Veterans Day to boycott delivery of nonessential supplies to major U.S. cities “as a way to show support for President Trump.” Trump has not conceded the presidential election.

The group, made up of truck drivers, members of the U.S. military and their families, along with Trump supporters, also wanted to make a...

Trucker group plans to ‘shut ’em down’ Wednesday in nationwide protest

Truck group plans protest

Members of a truckers’ group calling itself StopTheTires2020 planned to shut down their trucks Wednesday to make a stand against President-elect Joe Biden’s “ban on fracking.”

Oregon trucker Jeremy Rewoldt, the organizer of StopTheTires2020, said the U.S. is a capitalist economy and oil is the fuel “she survives on.”

“The blue-collar workers are literally the ones that make the wheels turn,” Rewoldt wrote in a Facebook post. “Without truck drivers, this country could not survive for long.”
