US to strongly enforce sanctions against Iranian oil

The US will soon issue advisories warning shippers, port officials and insurance companies that it “will target anybody that stores Iranian oil, petrochemicals or refined petroleum in violation of US sanctions“.

The warning came from David Peyman, the deputy assistant Secretary of State for counter threat finance and sanctions, on Monday.

Namely, Peyman said the US will encourage ship captains to take photos of anyone conducting STS transfers of sanctioned oil and submit them to the US government.

First STS LNG bunkering in the Port of Antwerp

Titan LNG, the Dutch service supplier of liquefied natural gas, completed its first ship-to-ship liquefied natural gas bunkering in the port of Antwerp.

It is said that the chemical tanker Ramelia received LNG from Titan’s FlexFueler 001 barge at the SEA-Tank terminal. The vessel, owned by company Älvtank from Sweden, is the sixth vessel delivered to the LNG powered product tankers fleet of the Gothia Tankers Alliance.

Nauticor conducts first STS LNG bunkering at Brunsbüttel

Hamburg-based Nauticor, conducted its first ever ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation at the Elbehafen Brunsbüttel, part of Brunsbüttel Ports, the first at a German port. The vessel bunkered LNG to DEME’s TSHD Scheldt River delivering a total of 300 cubic meters of the chilled fuel.

Petronas completes second STS LNG transfer

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS), through its subsidiary PETRONAS LNG Ltd (PLL), announced another successful completion of LNG break bulk ship-to-ship transfer, that was recently conducted in Brunei Bay.

Specifically, the break bulk operations consisted of the fully loaded Seri Bijaksana vessel carrying LNG cargo from Gladstone LNG, Australia, transferring smaller parcels onto two other vessels for onward deliveries to different LNG terminals in Shanghai, China.

Singapore saw its first STS LNG bunkering operation

Pavilion Energy has conducted the first commercial ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in the Port of Singapore. The operation included a reload of 2,000m3 of LNG onto a small-scale tanker at the newly-modified Secondary Jetty of the Singapore LNG (SLNG) Terminal, followed by a ship-to-ship transfer to the receiving heavy-lift commercial vessel.

Wes Amelie receives LNG through its first STS operation

‘Wes Amelie’, the world’s first container ship equipped with an LNG engine, received LNG via a STS operation, on April 21, from the world’s largest LNG bunker supply vessel ‘Kairos’, in the anchorage area of Visby, Sweden.

This operation is considered as a milestone, as ‘Wes Amelie’ received LNG for the first time from a bunker supply vessel. It is also the first time that such an operation takes place in the Baltic Sea for a ship of that kind.

Port of Colombo upgrades with $25 million crane order
