Containerships performs its first STS LNG bunkering in Port of Rotterdam

Finnish company Containerships became the first container shipping line in Europe to perform ship-to-ship LNG bunkering, on 24 January, when its first LNG-fueled container ship, ‘Containerships Nord’, successfully underwent her first LNG bunkering at the Port of Rotterdam.

Around 240 metric tons of LNG was bunkered to the vessel, an amount that can take her on a roundtrip from Rotterdam to St. Petersburg and back sailing through the Kiel canal twice.

World’s largest LNG bunkering vessel begins operations

On 11 December 2018, the world’s largest LNG bunker supply vessel ‘Kairos’ has started operations in Northwest Europe. PDVSA considers second STS operation off Venezuela

Venezuelan oil firm PDVSA is negotiating with shipping firms to establish a second ship-to-ship (STS) operation off Venezuela’s eastern coast. This aims to increase struggling crude exports.

Oil tanker detained for illegal STS transfer in Malaysian port

Malaysian authorities detained an oil tanker over suspicions of committing illegal ship-to-ship (STS) fuel transfer at the Tanjung Pelepas Port near Gelang Patah.

Ship-to-ship LNG bunkering to take place in Baltic Sea

Estonian energy company, Eesti Gaas and Damen Shipyards signed a contract for the construction of the first of a series of short-sea LNG bunker vessels to operate in the Baltic Sea.
