Drivers remain in hot demand

Citing “a strong economic recovery with robust freight demand,” less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line (NASDAQ: ODFL) announced Thursday plans to add 800 drivers and more than 400 dockworkers and clerical personnel.

Saia eyes terminal expansion

Less-than-truckload carrier Saia (NASDAQ: SAIA) reported fourth-quarter earnings per share of $1.51 Monday, 21 cents ahead of consensus and more than 85% higher year-over-year. The period benefited from a sub-20% corporate tax rate, a roughly 7 cent per share benefit assuming the third-quarter rate, which was related to stock-based compensation.

New Ethylene Terminal at Houston Channel To Be Scaled Up

  • Ethylene terminal has exported more than 300,000 mt so far in 2020.
  • Terminal to reach nameplate 1 million mt/year capacity in December.

Enterprise Products Partners and Navigator Gas have exported more than 300,000 mt of ethylene from their joint-venture terminal near the mouth of the Houston Ship Channel this year, reports Platts.
