NWSA acquires first electrical terminal tractors

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) will acquire electrical cargo handling equipment as an effort for further environmental sustainability.

NWSA handles record-breaking international box volumes in April

April 2019 was the busiest April ever for The Northwest Seaport Alliance’s international container volumes. At 265,781 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), it marked an 18.4 percent rise over April 2018. International container volumes for the first four months of 2019 also set records at 1,041,303 TEUs, a 13.6 percent increase from the prior year.

Tacoma to welcome the new NWSA container cranes

The new container cranes come closer and closer to Tacoma. A huge ship carrying four super-post-Panamax container cranes is scheduled to travel through Puget Sound March 5 to Tacoma.

The cranes are the same with the four that arrived in the Pacific Northwest last year. They are also among the largest on the West Coast.

Puget Sound Pilots are scheduled to board the Zhen Hua 31, a 771-foot-long heavy-lift ship, Tuesday (March 5) morning in Port Angeles and begin the journey to Tacoma.
