Dallas-based WWEX Group is acquiring JEAR Logistics, a 3PL focused on refrigerated freight, according to an anonymous source.

According to the tip provided to FreightWaves by someone familiar with the discussions, employees at JEAR were informed about the acquisition on Feb. 14.

Radiant Logistics points to some positives on quarterly call

Radiant Logistics said it expects soft market headwinds to persist into 2025 but provided a couple of positive trends for the current quarter on a call with analysts Tuesday evening.

The Renton, Washington-based 3PL reported revenue of $204 million for its fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 30. That was a 3.4% year-over-year decline. Adjusted earnings per share of 16 cents was 2 cents higher than the consensus estimate and 3 cents higher y/y.

Radiant Logistics acquires another operating partner

Radiant Logistics announced Wednesday it has acquired Focus Logistics, one of its strategic operating partners, for an undisclosed sum.

Michigan-based Focus is a domestic and international freight forwarder primarily serving customers in the marine, aerospace and trade show sectors. It was founded in 2003 by Terrie Evans and Cliff Kisielewski and began operating under Service By Air in 2006. (Radiant acquired Service By Air in June 2015.)

3PL HTL Freight acquires 4PL CTS Logistics

Freight broker and 3PL HTL Freight announced it has acquired 4PL CTS Logistics.

Windham, New Hampshire-based CTS Logistics is a 35-year-old, family-run company providing managed transportation and brokerage solutions. The company’s services also include warehousing and freight payment processing.

US logistics inflation remains high despite 11% drop in costs

U.S. business spending on logistics services dropped 11% in 2023 to $2.4 trillion as supply chains normalized in the wake of massive disruption caused by the COVID crisis, according to the “State of Logistics” report from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals released on Tuesday.

Logistics costs are still relatively high after rising 22.4% in 2021 and nearly 20% in 2022 from a baseline of $1.5 trillion prior to the pandemic.

Amazon has acquired a 2% stake in Grubhub, the North America-based subsidiary of European food delivery giant Just Eat Takeaway, the Amsterdam-based company announced Wednesday.
