Coast Guard rescues three from sinking tug

The Coast Guard rescued three crewmembers from the sinking 62′ tugboat, Gulf Man, Thursday, Jan. 10, approximately six miles northeast of Andros Island, The Bahamas. Rescued were Noel Maycock, 66, Seth Daughtery, 32, and James Orr, 51.

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on scene, reported the tugboat was taking on water, hoisted all three crewmembers and transported them to Nassau, Bahamas with no reported injuries.

Vigor, Marinette Marine deliver RB-Ms to Bahrain

Fincantieri Marinette Marine (FMM) and Vigor (Team RB-M) have delivered the first three of a six vessel RB-M contract to the U.S. Coast Guard. The 45’x14.7′ boats are part of a Foreign Military Sale to The Kingdom of Bahrain’s Coast Guard. Hulls four through six are expected to ship in 2020. A total of 182 RB-Ms have been built by Team RB-M.

Safe Boats adds three more vessels to FDNY fleet

Safe Boats International (SAFE), Seattle, delivered boats 17, 18 and 19 to the marine division of the New York Fire Department during the month of August. Since 2006 Safe has built and delivered a variety of boats to FDNY ranging in size from a 27′ full cabin vessel with firefighting equipment all the way up to the 64′ Bravest with three separate fire pump stations that went into service in 2011.

Metal Shark Alabama to build towboats for Florida Marine

Metal Shark Alabama, Bayou La Batre, Ala., has announced a new contract to build three 120’x35′ river towboats for Florida Marine Transporters Inc., Mandeville, La.

The four-decked, welded-steel, USCG Subchapter “M”-compliant towboats were designed by John W. Gilbert Associates Inc., Hingham, Mass., and will be powered by twin Caterpillar 3512C Tier 3 marine diesel engines rated at 1,911 hp each. Construction is underway at Metal Shark Alabama, with deliveries commencing in 2019.
