Large job losses latest plague on FedEx-TNT Express integration

The Murphy’s Law of transportation integration projects can now add the loss of as many as 6,300 jobs to its dubious legacy.

FedEx Express, the air and international unit of FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX), will cut between 5,500 and 6,300 jobs as part of its continued combination of the operations of former Dutch delivery firm TNT Express LLC, the FedEx unit said Tuesday.

Qantas Freight renews domestic air contract with TNT/FedEx Australia

TNT Australia, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) has signed a new six-year agreement with Qantas Freight, Australia’s largest independent air freight carrier, for domestic freight services in Australia.

The cargo division of Qantas Airways said Thursday it will support FedEx Express moving mining equipment, manufacturing materials, medical supplies and other business-to-business shipments.

Qantas has had a long-standing relationship with both FedEx Express and TNT.

FedEx named as suitor for German parcel company

According to a report in German newspaper Handelsblatt Today, FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) is pursuing an ownership stake in German parcel company Hermes.

The article identified the Memphis-based transportation and logistics giant as the likely suitor to partner with Hermes to expand the company’s parcel distribution service, but listed Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) and the logistics arm of Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA) as interested parties.
