East African bloc to simplify trade

Meeting in Nairobi, East African Community ministers pledge to undertake trade facilitation reforms in line with continental and WTO agreements.

Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania and Uganda agreed on 13 December to make trade between them and with other countries cheaper, faster and more straightforward in a significant boost for economic integration in East Africa and continental trade facilitation.

Azerbaijan’s trade operations

In January-October, legal entities and individuals of Azerbaijan carried out trade operations with 178 countries, products were exported to 104 countries and imported from 171 countries.

The State Statistical Committee told AZERTAC that in January-October 2018 foreign trade turnover of the country amounted to $ 26.534,3 billion, while export amounted to $ 17.281,7 billion, import – $ 9.252,6 billion. This resulted in a positive trade balance of $ 8.029,1 billion.

Botswana hopes CIIE to boost its trade with China

Botswana’s investment and trade promotion body is optimistic that the southern African country’s participation at the maiden China International Import Expo (CIIE) will boost its trade with China.

Kutlo Moagi, spokesperson at the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), said the import expo to be held on Nov. 5-10 in Chinese city Shanghai will bring new opportunities of trade and economic development to Botswana.

Sharjah initiates first GCC TIR shipment
