Shipwaves goes with TradeLens information flow

Digital freight forwarder Shipwaves has joined TradeLens, the blockchain-enabled shipping platform developed by A.P. Møller – Maersk and IBM.

Shipwaves, based in Mumbai, India, said the move is aimed at accelerating the digitization of ocean logistics, particularly in India and the Middle East. Having recently allowed shipping bills of lading to be filed over a blockchain platform, India has been “betting big on blockchain-enabled solutions to digitize its maritime supply chains,” Shipwaves said.

Another two members join Maersk’s blockchain platform

TradeLens blockchain platform, jointly developed by Maersk and IBM, welcomed two new members in July, South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) and Shipwaves have jumped into the supply chain technology project on 16 and 21 of July respectively.

DP World, one of the largest ports and terminals operators of the world, has launched a process to join TradeLens, a blockchain-based digital container logistics platform, developed by AP Møller – Maersk and IBM.

DP World aims to connect all its 82 marine and inland container terminals, as well as feeder companies and logistics divisions with TradeLens. In 2019 DP World’s terminals handled 71.2 million TEU from around 70,000 vessels.
