Arc Boat Company fast tracks its first electric tug boat

Los Angeles based electric boat startup Arc Boat Company says that it is entering the commercial sector by partnering with Portland, Ore., shipyard Diversified Marine Inc. to retrofit a 26 foot tugboat for use in the Port of Los Angeles, which has ambitions to be zero-emission by 2030.

Silverback Marine wins DoD contract for its truckable tug

Tacoma, Wash.-based aluminum workboat specialist Silverback Marine reports that, in partnership with Darley Defense, it has been awarded a multimillion-dollar Department of Defense contract for its new OX series truckable tractor tug. Silverback did not disclose the specific value of the contract or the number of truckable tugs it covers. It says the specific DoD department involved will be disclosed when the first vessel is delivered, scheduled for late 2025.

Seattle headquartered Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) has partnered with Tacoma, Wash., based aluminum workboat builder Silverback Marine to design a compact yet powerful tugboat that can be transported by truck over the road. The truckable tug has an overall length of 25 feet 10 7⁄8 inches, a beam of 14 feet 6 inches and a draft of 3 feet 4 inches.

The vessel can be easily transported to job sites with enough power and maneuverability to perform push-assists.
