Regional LTL carrier Dayton Freight Lines announced Monday it is acquiring the cartage unit of Valley Companies.

Headquartered in Hudson, Wisconsin, transportation and logistics provider Valley Companies is only selling its cartage assets to Ohio-based Dayton Freight. The deal includes terminals, trucks, related equipment and workers. Valley’s logistics and warehousing segments are not part of the transaction and will continue to operate as is.

Refrigerated carrier Hirschbach announced Wednesday the acquisition of John Christner Trucking (JCT). The deal will form one of the biggest temperature-controlled fleets in the nation at more than 3,000 trucks (800 at JCT), 5,000 trailers and total revenue exceeding $1 billion.
