Brexit has proved to be a boon for shipping lines operating direct services between the Republic of Ireland (ROI) and continental Europe.

Brexit will mean checks on goods crossing Irish Sea, government admits

Oh gawd. The Brexit mess rears its ugly head once more. According to this report in The Guardian, customs posts will be set up in the Northern Irish ports of Belfast, Larne and Warrenpoint to check goods travelling between Northern Ireland and the UK mainland, despite recent assurances to the contrary from Boris Johnson to Northern Irish business leaders fearful of a steep increase in administrative costs.

Stena to make 150 ferry staff in UK and Ireland redundant and furlough 600

Ferry operator Stena Line has announced that it plans to furlough 600 employees with 150 redundancies across the UK and Ireland, due to the coronavirus crisis.
