A Russian Navy surveillance ship has spent the last several days lingering off the coast of the western coast of Hawaii, USNI News has learned.

The Russian ship has operated just outside U.S. territorial waters, Navy officials confirmed to USNI News on Tuesday.

Coast Guard: Russian Surveillance Ship Operating in ‘Unsafe’ Manner of East Coast

Russian surveillance ship Viktor Leonov has been operating in an unsafely off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina in the vicinity of U.S. naval bases, according to a U.S. Coast Guard safety bulletin issued on Sunday.

“The United States Coast Guard has received reports indicating that the RFN Viktor Leonov (AGI-175) has been operating in an unsafe manner off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia,” read the notice from Coast Guard in Charleston, S.C.
