MSC’s turn to announce War Risk Surcharges

In view of the tensions in the area MSC is implementing a War Risk Surcharge for all cargoes moving to/from the Arabian Gulf (Bahrein, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia -Gulf Area: Dammam, Jubail-, UAE).

  • from/to All Trades (except U.S.A. and China): USD 40 per TEU as from 8 July 2019, Bill of Lading Date
  • from/ to U.S.A.: USD 40 per TEU as from 1 August 2019, Bill of Lading Date
  • from/ to China: USD 40 per TEU as from 1 August 2019, Bill of Lading Date

CMA CGM, War Risk Surcharge in the Middle East

Considering the recent incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and the related significantly increasing insurance costs in the Middle East Gulf region, CMA CGM is to implement a War Risk Surcharge as follows:

Effective July 5th, 2019 (B/L date) for all trades, except USA and China (August 1st, 2019):

From/To: Oman, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrein, Saudi Arabia (Dammam + Jubail), Kuwait, Iraq (*)

Quantum: USD 36 per TEU

Effective date for all trades excluding U.S. and China: 5 July 2019
Effective date for U.S. and China: 1 August 2019

Quantum: USD36/TEU
