Online retail logistics services giant Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) said it will start construction of a new fulfillment center in the central Texas city of Pflugerville, a suburb 18 miles northeast of the state capital, Austin.

The company plans to open the facility in 2021 and will hire about 1,000 new employees. Robotic systems will also be used to pick, pack and ship small items to customers, such as books, electronics and toys.

Lineage Logistics acquires 14 facilities in Henningsen Cold Storage deal

In a May 28 press release, Lineage Logistics announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire Henningsen Cold Storage and its 14 facilities, which are predominantly located throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The Novi, Michigan-based temperature-controlled logistics provider expects the deal to build out its network of facilities in the region and provides it with new roots in Idaho, North Dakota and Oklahoma.
