ArcBest deploying freight-dimensioning forklifts

Transportation and logistics provider ArcBest announced Monday it has developed a forklift that can capture the dimensions of a shipment. The company is currently using the technology in a test pilot. It also announced it has opened its Vaux technology offerings to other industries.

Southern California softness cited for 2024 drop in logistics real estate rents

Annual market rents on logistics real estate fell in 2024 for the first time since the 2007-2009 global financial crisis, according to a Tuesday report from warehouse operator Prologis. The company’s outlook for 2025, however, calls for a modest recovery.

California logistics company files for Chapter 11

A California logistics company has filed for bankruptcy protection, citing the loss of its largest “anchor” customer as one of the main reasons it is seeking to reorganize.

Starship Logistics LLC of Long Beach filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Nov. 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. The bankruptcy filing comes amid eviction legal proceedings and several lawsuits being filed against Starship Logistics for breach of contract.”

Schenker buy makes DSV a forwarder colossus

German national railway Deutsche Bahn AG and transport and logistics provider DSV of Denmark on Friday said they have signed an agreement for DSV to acquire DB’s logistics subsidiary Schenker for an estimated $15.84 billion.

DB said interest income until completion of the sale could push the value to $16.4 billion.

DSV said in a release that the combined companies will have revenue of $43.5 billion, ranking ahead of current leading global forwarder Kuehne+Nagel of Switzerland, at $28.11 billion....

Schenker sale could create US logistics powerhouse

The sale of the logistics arm of Germany’s national railway has the potential to create a new supply chain powerhouse in the United States.

Final bids value DB Schenker, a unit of Deutsche Bahn, at as much as $17 billion, according to published reports.
