Wash Water Discharge is Not Marine Pollution, Says Disappointed CSA

The Clean Shipping Alliance is “disappointed” in the recent decision to restrict exhaust gas cleaning system (scrubber) wash water discharge, says a press release published on their website.

Cruise ship discharges gray water at Port Canaveral by accident

Carnival informed the USCG on January 2 that the cruise ship Carnival Elation accidentally released 6,000 gallons of gray water into the harbor at Port Canaveral, Florida. The incident took place during routine deballasting at the pier.

Namely, local media cited a Carnival spokesperson saying that while the ship was offloading water from its ballast systems, a gray water valve was opened by mistake, discharging treated gray water for a short period. No sewage was offloaded.

Bahrain issues restrictions on scrubber water discharge

Two shipping companies, crew member charged for oily waste dumping

A federal grand jury in Oakland charged two shipping companies and a First Assistant Engineer with failing to maintain an Oil Record Book for bilge water discharges into the sea about three nautical miles west of the Golden Gate Bridge and with obstruction of justice, the US Department of Justice announced.
