Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros Gondán S.A. held a naming ceremony at its Figueras shipyard for the first of five offshore wind commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) it is building for Norway’s Edda Wind.

North Star orders fourth hybrid SOV for offshore wind

Aberdeen, Scotland-based North Star Renewables has awarded Finantieri’s Norwegian based subsidiary Vard an additional contract for the design and construction of a hybrid service operation vessel (SOV).

To be built at Vard’s Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam, the Vard 4 12 design vessel will be the fourth SOV to be delivered from Vard to North Star for operation on the Dogger Bank Wind Farm in the North Sea. It is set for delivery in fourth quarter 2024.

BOEM greenlights first wind offshore project in US federal waters

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) approved Dominion Energy on designing, constructing and installing the 12MW Coastal Virginia offshore wind project, making it the only fully-permitted offshore wind project in the US.
