Equinor invests in floating wind farm to power oil platforms

Equinor, the Norwegian oil and gas company, announced that it made a final investment on the first ever floating wind farm to power two North Sea offshore platforms, a project between Equinor, the Snorre and Gullfaks, which will begin operations in late 2022.

The project will make the Snorre and Gullfaks installations the first oil production platforms (and among the only facilities of any kind) ever powered by a floating wind farm.

UK’s Labour part recommends public-owned offshore wind farms

UK’s Labour Party published a plan to build 37 new offshore wind farms with the government holding a 51%. Rebecca Long Bailey MP, Labour’s Shadow Business and Energy Secretary, announced the Labour’s plan as part of a British ‘Green Industrial Revolution’ plan.

Partners receive grant for world’s first floating wind digital twin project

The US Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) issued a 3.6 million grant to Principle Power and partners for the development, validation and operation of the world’s first digital twin software for floating offshore wind applications.

French partners hold ceremony for the construction of Saint-Nazaire offshore wind project

French EDF Renewables and Enbridge conducted a ceremony highlighting the beginning of the construction on the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind project in France. The 480MW wind farm will be equipped with 80 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines manufactured in France and is planned to begin operations in 2022.

Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a joint initiative between EDF Renouvelables and Enbridge, is constructing the Saint-Nazaire project approximately 12km off the coast of Loire-Atlantique.

Wight Shipyard breaks into wind farm market

Wight Shipyard Co Ltd (WSC) is breaking into the Windfarm Support Vessel (WFSV) market with the launch of its new Vortisea brand.
