Mystery solved. Maersk Supply Service is the customer for the wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) ordered at Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine last week.

Sembcorp Marine to build WTIV for mystery buyer

Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine has booked an order to build a wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV). It has not disclosed the customer, nor the price, but says delivery is slated for early 2025.

The contract has been placed with subsidiary Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters Pte Ltd. and the WTIV will be built to an in-house design developed in collaboration with the customer.

Eneti puts U.S.-built WTIV plan on hold

Eneti Inc. (NYSE:NETI) said today that it has discontinued discussions with a shipyard in the United States to build a Jones Act-compliant Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV).

Chairman and CEO Emanuele Lauro said, “We believe the U.S. market for offshore wind will offer significant opportunities for the company in the future, but right now we are focused on delivering on our existing commitments and deriving value from our existing fleet.”
