Repaired MSC Ariane set to resume voyage to LA

The MSC Ariane, which diverted to Japan for repairs, is expected to resume sailing for the Port of Los Angeles on Wednesday. 

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. said the Ariane “had an engine issue due to bad quality of fuel” on April 2 while en route from Xiamen, China, to LA.

MSC did not say what repairs were done in Wakayama, Japan.

MSC Ariane experiences unspecified ‘engine issue’ en route to LA

The MSC Ariane will not be arriving at the Port of Los Angeles on April 24 as scheduled. 

The container ship “had to stop at sea due to an engine issue” last Friday while en route from Xiamen, China, to LA, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. said in a customer advisory. “The vessel has been diverted to Wakayama, Japan, for repairs.”

Maersk Essen nears LA more than 6 weeks after container loss

The Maersk Essen, which lost 750 containers in mid-January in the North Pacific, is now anchored in Southern California’s San Pedro Bay waiting to berth at APM Terminals Pier 400 at the Port of Los Angeles.

Maersk Eindhoven expected in Yokohama Thursday following container loss

The Eindhoven, which lost 260 containers overboard last week, is in Japanese waters, A.P. Møller – Maersk said Monday, and is expected to berth at APM Terminals Yokohama on Thursday.

Maersk is the parent company of APM Terminals, which expanded the Yokohama facility last year.

260 containers lost, 65 damaged in Maersk Eindhoven at-sea mishap

A.P. Møller – Maersk has confirmed 260 containers were lost overboard and an additional 65 damaged on the deck of the Eindhoven on Wednesday.

“As previously reported, the Maersk Eindhoven experienced a loss of engine propulsion for three to four minutes while sailing 45 nautical miles off northern Japan in heavy seas,” a spokesman said Friday. “The loss of maneuverability resulted in severe rolling with 260 containers overboard and 65 containers damaged on deck.
