Firms can be better: there can be more gender diversity in logistics

When you ask logistics companies why they have so few senior (or even junior) female staff, you tend to get the same response: “Women don’t apply for jobs here. What can we do?”
Well, the answer is not, in fact, ‘nothing’; many companies seem to think that a lack of applications means they don’t have to try.

‘boom!’ – new global community will boost the role of women in the supply chain

Let’s look at the stats: just 11% of senior roles in supply chains are held by women – a figure that has actually decreased in the last two years, according to Gartner’s 2019 Women in Supply Chain survey.
And of the total supply chain workforce, women make up only 39%.
Why does it matter? Because companies within the top quartile for gender diversity are 15% more likely to have returns above their respective national …

Indian government backs drive to get more women into logistics

Indian logistics operators must increase diversity within their workforce if they are to succeed in the future.
The executive director of Awesome, Nancy Nix, told delegates at Fiata’s World Congress in Delhi last week that homogenised workforces were less effective than those more diverse.
“Particularly when you look at leadership teams; those that look the same are often a loss less effective than those that don’t,” she added.
