  • Commercial air travel accounts for about 2% of greenhouse gas emissions globally or, in the U.S., more than 3% of GHG emissions.
  • Airbus, in these recent announcements, says that the craft will incorporate a cryogenic hydrogen storage tank, operating at -253 degrees Celsius.
  • Both Airbus and Boeing are reportedly continuing work on new-generation hybrid engines that may electrify the turboprop.

Airbus recently announced that it’s planning to design, build, and...

ZeroAvia partners on green hydrogen aircraft refueling in California

ZeroAvia signed a memorandum of understanding with ZEV Station to develop green hydrogen refueling stations at airports in California.

ZeroAvia, a company trying to achieve zero-emission aviation by using hydrogen-electric power, signed a memorandum of understanding with hydrogen fueling firm ZEV Station on Monday to develop refueling infrastructure for green hydrogen at airports in California.

California is at the forefront of sustainable development with its low carbon fuel standard and major efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The aviation industry faces major barriers to decarbonization, including range and capacity...

$174B hydrogen aircraft market by 2040, Avia Solutions Group chairman says

The aviation hydrogen market could reach $174 billion by 2040.

The value of the global hydrogen aircraft market is anticipated to reach $27.68 billion in 2030 and jump up to $174.02 billion by 2040, Gediminas Žiemelis, chairman of the board of Avia Solutions Group, said in a release.

With water as the only waste product, hydrogen can be directly combusted for motive power or can power a fuel cell to create electricity. The release said hydrogen’s most limiting factor is its size requirements. Hydrogen requires three times the space as traditional jet fuel...

Airbus sets sights on zero-emission aircraft

Airbus releases zero emission aircraft concepts.

Building the world’s first zero-emissions commercial aircraft by 2035 is no easy feat. A future with hydrogen-powered aircraft at the center of aviation would require reliable supplies of hydrogen at airports worldwide, sufficient production of green hydrogen, in-depth safety measures for passengers and collaboration across the aviation industry.

Airbus is seeking to help make that future a reality with its three recently announced ZEROe concept aircraft powered by hydrogen.

It is partnering with
