Antong gets US$688 million cash injection

Fujian Zhaohang Logistics, the government-led entity that is restructuring struggling Chinese domestic liner shipping group Antong Holdings, has, with 12 other Chinese investors, injected CNY4.53 billion (US$688 million) into the company.

Of the funds, CNY1.35 billion (US$205.24 million) came from Fujian Zhaohang, a joint venture between China Merchants Port Holdings, AVIC Trust and Quanzhou’s municipal government.

Zhonggu Logistics takes stake in Dongguan terminal

Zhonggu Logistics, an affiliate of China’s largest domestic liner operator Zhonggu Shipping Group, has purchased a 49% stake in Dongguan Container Terminal.

The company announced on 14 October 2020 that it had bought the share from Singapore-based terminal operator PSA International, without disclosing the price. Dongguan Port Group continues to own the remaining 51% stake in the terminal in Dongguan in China’s Guangdong province.

Xiamen Port to build automated terminal for ULCS’s

Xiamen Port Authority has disclosed that China’s Ministry of Transport and Communications has given the green light to develop what will be the first automated terminal in Fujian province.

The project, tentatively called “Pier No. 5” will be developed in the Xiang’an Port Area. The berth is intended to accommodate ultra-large container ships (ULCS), with an annual throughput capacity of 910,000TEU.

Qinzhou Port expands vessel channel

China’s Qinzhou port in the Beibu Gulf which is hoping to increase container volumes, is widening its shipping channel to accommodate larger container ships.

The Qinzhou Port East Channel expansion project aims to make the port a gateway into Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in western China, by adapting to the increasing size of container ships. It is hoped that the expansion of the channel will achieve annual container throughputs of 10 million TEU.

Zhonggu Logistics set for IPO

Zhonggu Logistics, an affiliate of China’s largest domestic liner operator Zhonggu Shipping Group, plans to raise CNY1.5 billion (US$214 million) through an IPO of its shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission approved Zhonggu Logistics’ IPO application on 23 July 2020. Chinese investment bank China International Capital Corporation is underwriting the share issuance.

Zhonggu to develop container logistics base in Beibu Gulf

Chinese domestic container liner operator Zhonggu Shipping Group has signed an agreement with Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group and Guangxi Free Trade Pilot Zone Qinzhou Port Area to jointly develop a US$70 million container multimodal logistics base in Qinzhou port in the Guangxi autonomous region.
