ZIM updates THC/THD rates

THC Update in the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands

ZIM announces that as of January 1st, 2019 till further notice, the THC/THD rates for DV containers shall be 200 Euros per TEU.

“These measures are necessary in order to maintain our current levels of service and high reliability”, company said in its press release.

Above THC is additional to the applicable base freight charge, bunker, security related and PSS charges as well as to other charges for additional services, local charges and contingency...

2020 low sulphur regulations could be ‘the saviour’ of container shipping

The IMO’s 0.5% sulphur cap, to be imposed in January 2020, could be a “blessing in disguise” for shipping lines, should the regulatory fallout finally end the industry’s elusive search for supply and demand balance.

Zim Q3 revenues highest in four years, but profits fall

Zim may have recorded its highest quarterly revenues in four years ($841m versus $817m in 2017), but profits fell dramatically in the three months to September. Hellenic Shipping News reports Zim’s ebitda fell almost half, year on year, to $44.3m, compared with $84m on 2017. Rhine’s condition unstable – Surcharges in effect

ZIM notifies that the measuring point “Kaub“ on the Rhine river has fallen in the end of last week below 30cm, which caused an operational stand still, most of the barges operated on the Rhine river were no longer able to proceed through the “Kaub” measuring point and shipping of our cargo has effectively stopped.

The current situation slightly improved and the barges are operating with lower capacity as the water level remains critical, the forecast is currently showing an unstable trend.
