China-US trade war could be the founder of a feast for intra-Asia box traffic

Booming intra-Asia trades stand to benefit the most from a lengthy US-China trade war.
But low freight rates, overcapacity and poor schedule reliability is putting pressure on shipping lines operating in what is the world’s biggest container market.
According to Philip Damas, head of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, intra-Asia works “on different dynamics” to the major east-west trades.

ZIM is coming to Jacksonville

Zim Integrated Shipping Services, the 11th largest ocean carrier in the world, is adding service to Jacksonville. The Israel-based company will call Jaxport as the vessel operator for 2M, one of the four largest vessel-sharing alliances in the world. The new service will bring more containers from North Asia through Jaxport, which has placed an emphasis on Asian container imports, netting average annual growth of 21 percent over the last five years.

Hapag-Lloyd about the six carriers’ collaboration

Hapag-Lloyd announced an enhanced coverage for the Mediterranean to North America East Coast market.

The new AL6 service is consolidating the AL6 service (operated by Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express, Yang Ming), and the Amerigo service (operated by COSCO, CMA-CGM, OOCL) into one larger loop.

It will be operated jointly by Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express, Yang Ming, COSCO, CMA-CGM and OOCL. The rotation is expected to be as follows:

THE and Ocean alliances team up for Mediterranean-US east coast service

THE and the Ocean alliances have confirmed plans to merge a Mediterranean-US east coast service in December.
