Malaysia starts shipping back plastic waste to foreign countries

Malaysia will ship back around 3,300 tons of non-recyclable plastic waste to countries like the US, UK, Canada and Australia, in order to avoid becoming a dumping ground for developed countries, explained Environment Minister Yeo Bee Yin.

The Minister said that Malaysia, as well as other developing countries, have become new targets after China banned the import of plastic waste. She noted that 60 containers which include contaminated waste were smuggled in, heading to illegal processing...
