Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation is taking 12 truck operators out of service — suspending their operating authorities and ordering the seizure of their license plates — in connection with their role in the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa, Canada.

A spokesperson for the ministry declined to identify the operators or say if they included any carriers. The spokesperson also would not say how long the suspensions would last.

Police began making their final push against truck drivers and other protesters who remained in Ottawa, Ontario, on Saturday, three weeks after the Freedom Convoy arrived in the Canadian capital.

Officers in riot gear clashed with some protesters as they pushed toward the core of the downtown encampment. Police smashed the windows of a truck as a crowd of protesters yelled “Shame!,” according to videos shared on social media.

The U.S.-Canada border crossing at Coutts, Alberta, reopened on Tuesday after protesters ended a two-week blockade that had disrupted millions of dollars in trade. 

The Canada Border Services Agency reported that normal operations resumed. Videos shared on social media showed a convoy of semi-trucks and other vehicles driving away with their horns blasting.
