[Watch] Cargo Ship Engine Room Fire

A general cargo ship suffered fire in the engine room on Feb 8 in Caspian sea, while en route from Baku to Aktau, reports Maritime Bulletin. 

What happened?

According to the report from the master, funnel insulation cover was the source of the fire. 

Ship disabled

Fire was extinguished by sealing off the engine room and activating CO2 fire fighting system, but the ship was disabled. 

Ship towed back

Tug responded immediately and the ship was towed back to Baku to undergo repairs. No injuries...
