AMSA reports that on July 16, Tuesday, received an alert from the Japanese Coast Guard, according to which the Myojin Maru No. 8, was in distress after a fire broke out onboard. According to reports, the 24 crewmembers onboard were abandoning the vessel into lifeboats.

Specifically, AMSA received the alert at approximately 7:45 a.m. The vessel in distress was about 1030 km west of Perth.

How BBQ beach-day results to second and third degree foot-burns

A woman had to be transmitted to a hospital, after a BBQ day at the beach. The victim suffered second and third degree burns to her foot, when she stepped barefoot to pick the BBQ stones, as she didn’t think that the sand would have absorbed the heat of the BBQ stones.

Firefighting water contributes to vessel’s sinking

The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued an investigation report on a fire and explosion incident onboard the fishing vessel ‘Hit List’ while in Merrimack River off Massachusetts, in August 2018. The investigation found that the fire was caused by failure of a hydraulic hose fitting. Meanwhile, the water used for firefighting efforts contributed to the vessel’s sinking.

The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued an investigation report on the fire onboard the fishing vessel ‘Logger’ while underway in Bering Sea, off Alaska in July 2018. The investigation could not establish the exact cause of the fire.

TT-Line ferry suffers fire with 217 passengers onboard

The ferry ‘Peter Pan’, owned by Swedish ferry operator TT-Line, suffered an engine room fire while sailing in Baltic sea with a total of 217 passengers onboard, in the afternoon hours of 9 July.

Cattle rescue continues after captain’s alleged suicide that caused vessel’s grounding

Following the Coyhaique roro that ran aground the previous week, the Authorities continue the rescue operations for 200 cattle in trucks. The vessel, allegedly, ran aground after the captain committed suicide and hanged himself.
