Five week delay of virus effects on European ports

The coronavirus pandemic has significantly affected the Port of Rotterdam, which reported a 9.3% drop in first quarter throughput compared to the same period last year.

A surprise result when compared to the Port of Anwerp statistics, which seems to have ridden the Covid-19 crisis for now. Antwerp marked a 4% growth in total freight volumes in the first quarter.

Help operators to carry out crew changes, governments are urged

Three Container Shipping Carriers to File  an Emergency Cooperative Working Agreement

Coronavirus outbreak forces container shipping carriers to file  an Emergency Cooperative Working Agreement with the Federal Maritime Commission.  

The Loadstar in a recent article cited Alphaliner stating that three of the largest US container shipping carriers have applied to the FMC. The main purpose is for emergency permission to establish  cooperation on trades between the US and the Caribbean.

Major shipping carriers keep changing schedules amid Covid-19

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced that in order to adapt the capacity to current market demands amidst the evolving COVID-19 situation, it will temporarily suspend the NWC (Northwest Countries) to IPAK (India Pakistan) service, effective from week 20 until end of June.

Κίνα: Ύφεση 6,8% το πρώτο τρίμηνο του 2020
