AI deals decreased significantly in the ship industry in H2 2021

In the second half of 2021 the number of artificial intelligence deals decreased significantly by 66.7% from the same period in 2020.

This marks a deceleration in growth from the 54.5% decrease in deals that occurred in H1 2021 relative to the same period a year earlier.

GlobalData’s deals database looks at mergers, acquisitions and venture capital and private equity investments taking place daily between thousands of companies across the world.

Cloud hiring levels in the ship industry rose in January 2022

The proportion of ship equipment supply, product and services companies hiring for cloud related positions rose significantly in January 2022 compared with the equivalent month last year, with 51.7% of the companies included in our analysis recruiting for at least one such position.

This latest figure was higher than the 36.9% of companies who were hiring for cloud related jobs a year ago and an increase compared to the figure of 42.6% in December 2021.

Asia-Pacific was the fastest growing region for internet of things (IoT) hiring among ship industry companies in the three months ending December.

The number of roles in Asia-Pacific made up 8.1 per cent of total IoT jobs – up from 3.6 per cent in the same quarter in 2020.
