Saltchuk Marine to expand ship assist operations

Saltchuk Marine announced yesterday that it has acquired Centerline Logistics’ harbor ship assist operations in California and the Pacific Northwest.

Eight ship assist tugs currently operated under the Millennium and Starlight brands will join the Saltchuk Marine fleet in early 2021. Operations will be consolidated under the Starlight brand, which will remain independently operated, managing, dispatching, and crewing its own boats.

Nichols Brothers launches third of four ASD-90 tugs for Foss

The third of four 100’x40′ ASD-90 Class tugs for Foss Maritime, the Leisa Florence, was launched at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020.

The tugs are a Jensen Maritime Consultants, Seattle, design. The Z-drive tractor tugs are built to USCG Subchapter “M” regulatory standards, with ABS loadline certification, and UWILD notation.

Foss Maritime assists as Navy hospital ship leaves L.A.

Foss Maritime and sister company Amnav assisted the Military Sealift Command Hospital Ship USNS Mercy recently as it departed the Port of Los Angeles for her home port of San Diego.

The Naval hospital ship arrived at the Port of Los Angeles seven weeks ago on March 27 to serve as a referral hospital for non-coronavirus patients, and to offer relief to overburdened hospitals and ERs. Having bolstered the areas preparedness, the ship now returns to San Diego.
