According to ocean recovery expert Steve Ferreira, founder of Ocean Audit, JB Hunt was awarded its non-vessel operating common carrier licence “a few weeks ago”, and the FMC ocean transport intermediaries (OTI) database lists JB Hunt as an authorised NVOCC with …

Outgoing chief executive Adrian Colman said “key areas” had grown, including retail general merchandise.
“In the second half of the year, we secured substantial new contract wins that should position the group well in the coming periods,” …

Several shipping bodies, including the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA) and European Community Shipowners’ Association (ECSA) took to the floor of the WTO this week to express their concerns.
They presented two papers to the WTO, stating they were “fully committed to the...

Agility profits rise in first quarter to mitigate Panalpina disappointment

Agility may have reported a bounce of 4.1% in Q1 profits, but is likely to remember the period more for its failure to agree a deal with Panalpina as it looked for growth through consolidation.
For a while, it appeared the Kuwait-headquartered operator was going head-to-head with DSV for Panalpina, but on 1 April DSV won the race.
It may be that Panalpina simply used Agility to get the best price it …

Supply chain radar: DHL Global Forwarding has got its house in order – is it now ready to bite?

The first-quarter (Q1) results of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight (DGFF) were simply outstanding. Never, in recent memory, has the air freight market leader by volumes achieved such a solid quarterly performance on so many levels, with record operating income, or ebit, of €100m.
One obvious caveat, however, is that its headline numbers were likely propped up by IFRS-induced accounting changes, while it also got a little bit of help from currencies. …
