More confusion ahead for lithium battery shippers

Shippers of lithium batteries will face a new hurdle from 1 January, thanks to new transport regulations.
The United Nations’ Committee of Experts, which creates the framework for dangerous goods regulations,  has introduced a requirement which obliges manufacturers, and distributors of cells or batteries, to make available the test summary for their products.

APMM’s Vado Gateway container terminal finally open for business

Maersk’s container terminal operating arm, APM terminals (APMT), has opened its long-awaited Vado Gateway facility in Italy, capable of handling the largest box ships.
The facility boasts automated yard operations and, in the first phase, a 450-metre quay with a depth alongside of 17.25 metres. In July next year, the quay will be 700 metres.

The Middle East container terminal transhipment market is set to become more competitive after Abu Dhabi announced this week that its container handling capacity would jump by 50%.
