New LNG terminal to be built at Port of Rostock

Novatek and Fluxys signed a Land Lease Agreement with the Rostock Port for constructing a mid-scale LNG transshipment terminal based in the port of Rostock in Germany.

According to the joint venture, the two companies will design, construct, finance, own and operate a mid-scale LNG transshipment terminal, which will have a capacity of about 300 thousand tons per annum in the port of Rostock.

Watch: AIDAnova transferred through river Ems

World’s first LNG cruise ship, AIDAnova, has been successfully transferred to Eemshaven, Netherlands. The 180,000 tonne ship was transferred along the river Ems.

On October 8, AIDA Cruises’ newest ship AIDAnova departed the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.  AIDAnova passed the dock gate in Papenburg, the Friesen-bridge near Weener and then the Jann-Berghaus-bridge in Leer.

South Korea supports building of new eco ships

South Korea’s oceans ministry informed that it will support the building of more than 200 ships during the next three years to improve the troubled maritime industry. The country will assist in building these ships through the Korea Oceans Business Corp. (KOBC). Novatek announces major gas find in Gulf of Ob

Russian natural gas producer Novatek announced discovery of a new natural gas and gas condensate field at the North-Obskiy license area, located in the shallow waters of the Ob Bay, in the Arctic Ocean. EU funds project for LNG retrofit on five ferries

The European Union has approved Baleària’s project, after the company submitted it to the call of funds CEF (Connecting Europe Facility). This project aims to retrofit five ferries of Baleària so that they can run on LNG.

The European Commission granted to the Baleària € 11,797,424 for the retrofit of the ships, which will be carried out from the end of 2018 until 2021.

World’s first LNG cruise ship starts its first voyage

On October 8, AIDA Cruises’ newest ship AIDAnova departed the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The ship will now be transferred on the river Ems to Eemshaven, Netherlands.

AIDAnova passed the dock gate in Papenburg, the Friesen-bridge near Weener and then the Jann-Berghaus-bridge in Leer.

The cruise ship is planned to arrive in Emden and moor in Eemshaven on October 10 morning, as Meyer Werft informed.

When AIDAnova arrives in Eemshaven, it will undergo the final sea trials.

Baltic LNG project enters new stage of implementation

On the sidelines of the 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, Russian oil giant Gazprom and British oil major Shell signed a Framework Agreement on the joint design concept (pre-FEED) for the Baltic LNG project.

Ship-to-ship LNG bunkering to take place in Baltic Sea

Estonian energy company, Eesti Gaas and Damen Shipyards signed a contract for the construction of the first of a series of short-sea LNG bunker vessels to operate in the Baltic Sea.

The LGC 6000 LNG class vessel, is planned to be delivered in September 2020, and aims to boost the wider adoption of LNG as an alternative fuel in the North-east Baltic Sea, by providing ship-to-ship distribution service for the first time.
