Klaipedos Nafta secures EUR 134.1 million financing for its LNG terminal

Lithuanian LNG and oil terminal operator AB Klaipedos Nafta (KN) inked a EUR 134.1 million loan agreement with Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) to optimize costs of its LNG terminal. The 25-year maturity loan will be directed to finance the rent payable for the FSRU Independence.

LNG bunkering operations to begin in Algoa Bay, S. Africa

DNG Energy, a South African LNG infrastructure provider, will start LNG bunkering in South Africa’s largest bunkering port, Algoa Bay. The initiative aims to improve access to LNG bunkers for commercial vessels on a trading route, that sees 56,000 vessels transit the region every year. Bunkering operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2020.

US approves Rio Grande LNG export facility in Brownsville

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued an order authorizing the siting, construction and operation of the proposed Rio Grande LNG export facility in Brownsville, Texas and the associated Rio Bravo Pipeline.

Yantai Port plans to have LNG storage facilities by 2022

Yantai LNG Group has in its plans to launch an LNG import terminal by 2022, and it now expects government approval. The terminal will be built in two phases, the first phase featuring a capacity of 5 million tonnes per year and the second with 6.5 million tonnes per year.

Yantai Port is located in the Shandong province, which has one quarter of China’s steel capacity and is a big coal-consuming region.

Grain LNG sets record for gas send-out from a European terminal

Grain LNG, Europe’s largest LNG terminal, exported the highest ever amount of gas in a single day from any European terminal into the UK network. The terminal, situated on the Isle of Grain in the Thames estuary, exported 698 GWh of gas, beating its previous record by more than 100 GWh.

The 698 GWh of gas represents around a quarter of UK gas demand, which is enough to supply gas to all of London and the South East.

Port of IJmuiden sees its fist LNG bunkering

The Port of IJmuiden saw its first LNG bunkering take place on November 4. The operation included LNG bunkering to the Werkendam, a LNG powered crane vessel, which was a joint effort between the Port of IJmuiden, the OD IJmond and Titan LNG.

The Werkendam is fully powered by LNG, with gas oil as a back-up. The installed tank capacity on the aft deck can store 35 m3 LNG on board.
