Maersk revises peak season surcharge from Asia to Africa

Danish container carrier Maersk is revising the Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments from China and Hong Kong to Kenya and Tanzania’s port of Dar Es Salaam.

The following surcharge will be effective from 21 April.

CMA CGM implements peak season surcharges worldwide

French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced new peak season surcharges globally, set to take effect in April and May.

CMA CGM will apply a peak season surcharge (PSS) from Türkiye and Greece to Canada East Coast, Mexico East Coast, US East Coast, US West Coast & US Gulf and all inland destinations reached via said ports. Effective from 3 May, the surcharge will apply to both dry and reefer cargo, except out of gauge (OOG), and will be US$500 per 20′ and US$ 1,000 per 40’/40′ HC/ 45′.

Hapag-Lloyd applies new GRI in Americas

German container carrier Hapag-Lloyd has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) from Latin America East Coast to North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The GRI will apply to both dry and reefer containers and will be effective from 5 May until further notice.

Hapag-Lloyd noted the GRI has been set at US$400 per container.

Latin America East Coast includes Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, while North America includes United States, Canada and Mexico.

CMA CGM increases rates from Asia to Canada

CMA CGM has introduced a Rate Restoration Initiative (RRI), set to take effect from May 1, for shipments from the Canada West Coast to China, Hong Kong & Macau SAR, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia.

The new rates will apply to dry containers, with open top, flat racks, and tank containers excluded from the Initiative.

Under the RRI, the rates will be increased by US$50 per 20′ container and US$100 per 40′ & 45′ containers.

CMA CGM applies overweight surcharges on India, Middle East, and Red Sea routes

French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced new overweight surcharges (OWS), which have been effective from 1 April.

In particular, CMA CGM applies an OWS of US$100 per dry container with a gross weight over 15 tons from the India West Coast to Berbera, Somalia & Massawa, and Erythrea.
