The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has agreed to partner with the Port of Rotterdam on smart ports, human capital development, knowledge transfer, and performance optimisation in support of the Kingdom’s economic diversification efforts aimed at creating a state-of-the-art investment and trade hub.

Jeddah Islamic Port achieves record monthly box throughput

Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Islamic Port handled 491,197 TEUs in July, setting a new record for the largest box volume ever processed across its facilities over a 30-day period.

Saudi ports increase box throughput in July

Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) reported a consolidated container volume of 753,496 TEUs in July, outpacing last year’s throughput in the same month by 19%.

More specifically, Mawani’s data for July shows a 34.56% scale-up in exported containers to 250,004 TEUs from 185,791 TEUs in the previous year alongside a 30.09% growth in imported containers from 180,329 TEUs to 234,592 TEUs.

Box volumes increase in Saudi ports

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) reported a 7.76% increase in cargo traffic in February 2023, with 622,837 TEUs handled compared to 577,993 TEUs in 2021.

The flow of containers in the ports operated by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) increased by 24.05% in January, compared with the same month last year, totalling 694,803 TEUs.
