APM Terminals announced its collaboration with the Government of Egypt on the final pieces of the jigsaw that will ensure the success of Egypt Vision 2030 for Port Said East Port and the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT). Once ready, it plans to regain its position as one of the most competitive ports in the South and East Mediterranean region.

Specifically, about 95% of SCCT’s traffic is boosted from the transshipment volumes, as it is located at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal.

SCA Says 68 Vessels With a Cargo Tonnage of 5.2 Million Passed Suez Canal

According to an Egypt Independent report, the Suez Canal Economic Zone’s (SCEZ) Chairman Mohab Mamish said that traffic passing through the Suez Canal in both directions summed 68 vessels with a total cargo tonnage of 5.2 million on Wednesday.

Egypt plans to increase Suez Canal’s revenues by $1bn

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) aims to increase the Suez Canal’s revenues by as much as $1bn, Mohab Mamish, the chairperson of SCA informed. During the first year of its operation the canal achieved revenues worth a total of $600m.

Mohab Mamish stated during a seminar on investment in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), that in addition to the $600m revenues, approximately 20,000 vessels crossed the canal per year.
