Panama becomes 21st member of Tokyo MoU

The Port State Control Committee, the governing body under the Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control in the Asia-Pacific Region (Tokyo MoU), agreed to accept Panama as its 21st member Authority, during its 30th meeting that took place in Majuro, Marshall Islands, from 14 to 17 October 2019.

Tokyo MoU: Ship detentions drop in 2018, ISM remains key cause

A total of 934 ships registered under 63 flags were detained due to serious deficiencies onboard in the Tokyo MoU region in 2018, according to the recently-published Tokyo MoU annual report on PSC. The number of detentions, the detention rate and number of under-performing ships continued to decrease in 2018. Joint CIC on MARPOL Annex VI: Key outcomes

The latest Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) was jointly conducted from 1st September to 30th November 2018 by the Paris, Tokyo, India and Black Sea MoU, focusing on compliance with the MARPOL Annex VI. Tokyo MoU presents CIC results on MARPOL Annex VI

Tokyo MoU conducted the concentrated inspection campaign (CIC) on MARPOL Annex VI from 1 September 2018 to 30 November 2018. Member Authorities inspected 6,604 vessels, of which 4 (0.06%) were detained, due to the campaign. Overall, 176 (2.14%) ships were detained during the campaign.
