X-Press Feeders vessel loses power after engine room fire

One of X-Press Feeders’ ships remains anchored off Karwar in India, after a fire broke out in its engine room around 1 pm (UK time) on 3 October.

The crew put out the fire on the 2,742 TEU X-Press Kailash, but power to the engine has yet to be restored. At the time, the 2008-built X-Press Kailash, technically managed by X-Press’ subsidiary Eastaway Ship Management, had left India’s Hazira port and was on its way to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

OCI Global and X-Press Feeders sign green methanol offtake agreement

OCI Global and X-Press Feeders have announced that OCI Hyfuels will supply X-Press Feeders with green methanol in the port of Rotterdam from 2024.

More specifically, the agreement is the first green methanol deal with a feeder container carrier and represents a crucial step in the decarbonization of the shipping chain, as the feeder industry plays an important role in supporting the ultimate carrier.

Fatal shipyard accident involves X-Press Feeders ship

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) has suspended work after three yard workers died while working on a 7,000 TEU vessel ordered by X-Press Feeders.

Chinese publication Caixin reported on 27 June that the accident happened around 6 pm local time on 16 June, while the vessel was being assembled in a dry dock. A large block section reportedly fell on the workers shortly after it was placed on the vessel, identified as H1557. Another six workers were injured and sent to hospital.

X-Press Feeders to deploy ZeroNorth platform across its entire fleet

X-Press Feeders has agreed to deploy the ZeroNorth platform across its entire fleet of feeder vessels to improve profits and accelerate its decarbonisation process.
