Peru becomes the latest country to accede to anti-fouling treaty

Capt. John

IMO informed that Peru has now acceded to an important IMO treaty helping to protect the marine environment. Namely, the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships (AFS) Convention.

The treaty prohibits the use of harmful organotins in anti-fouling paints and sets out a mechanism to prevent the potential future use of other harmful substances in anti-fouling systems.
